In most legislation, this can be registered if the design is novel and new. If for instance, the design has been publicly available for a certain period of time by way of publication and tangible form, it will in most cases, not qualify for such protection. 3. What are the benefits of protection? Its essentially to promote the growth of innovation where time and monies spend have a period of protection. It also enables a business to be distinguished from its competitors. The one great benefit that people tend to forget is the value creation it brings to the brand and company. These are your assets and they will potentially add exponential valuation to your company than a traditional physical asset can.
