Some come home, some dont... They never come home the same and they ALL bring the war in their mind with them! PTSD is real! Thousands of soldiers will die at home in their beds from PTSD. They were victims of the war. Whether they die on foreign or domestic land they will die in battle! Even the ones who tackle PTSD head on will never be the man or woman they were before! The VA and the government will remain silent about this disease. They will later be diagnosed with mental problems that wont be covered by the VA! Some will find jobs few will be able to keep them bc their disability is as debilitating as a physical injury but not a single one will receive the full benefits they were offered! They will get medically discharged which is a complete recognition that a medical problem has stopped their service! They will become civilians and treated worse! And the VA will deny them disability benefits bc their scars, wounds and pain arent visible enough! If the decision makes at the Veterans Administration would sleep next to a combat vet just one night they would wake up (if they even got to close their eyes and sleep through the horrible nightmares they cant see their bedmate having) and they will go back to their offices and would spend as long as it took to rewrite all the fine print to ensure that combat vets and their mental battle wounds were treated!! Treated without cost because they already paid for it! They would see to it that every combat bet who was diagnosed with PTSD would get FULL DISABILITY BENEFITS and a lifetime of proper healthcare! In the meantime those who have and still do love a combat vet (I have many) will not shut up!
