Some days Im just so evil. I just received a cold call from a telemarketer who told me he had an update for my computer operating system and that he would fix the viruses on it. I asked him what O/S I have. after a couple of minutes of him fumbling around with a response he asked me what O/S I use. I told him CPM/86. For those who dont know, CPM/86 predated MS-DOS. It came out in the 80s. He never heard of it and asked someone else. When he gets back on the line he asked if I ever heard of the 21st century. I then asked him what viruses I had that he was going to clean up for me. I kept coming back to the fact that he called me. I even brought Big Brother into it, as how did he know that I even had a computer. He said that every body has a computer. I said, even poor black inner-city kids? (No racism intended - I was just having fun with him). He said yes. He asked me my name and I said Art, Art Vandelay. He asked me to spell it. I said A-R-T. He said he was confused. I said, youre confused?, Im confused. You called me. He finally asked if I really had CPM/86 and I said no I was just having fun with him. You called me and wasted my time, so I thought I would waste your time. He was good natured about it though. I wish I had recorded the phone call. Ah the world of Thank You, Come Again world of telemarketing.
