Some days the dragon wins... I have been a foster in the past for a rescue fostering over 200 dogs while they waited on their forever home. I have dialed that back over the last year but I still try to help out. Someone posted there were two abandoned kittens at a cemetery and though it was about an hour out of my way, I had it put on my heart I needed to go look. Someone had left food and water there so at least I had a landmark. I didnt find any kittens but there was a friendly but clearly sick older cat. I fed him and gathered him up and off to the vet we went. He was very sweet and polydactyl he had six toes on his back feet and 8 on one his front feet. He enjoyed the ear scratches and head bumps while we waited on his test results. Sadly I knew when the vet tech came into the room by the look on her face the news was bad. He was elderly, fiv positive and very sick... So I had to make the decision to let him cross the bridge and be at peace. I called him Ernie since he reminded me of the Hemingway cats with six toes, so he had a name, a good dinner and loving before he left. I wrapped him in my Epona blanket and he is buried near the pond where many of my other fur babies are. He may have been a throw away but he had love of someone at the end. Im tired. I dont have any fight left. Goodnight
