Some exciting news for the holistic veterinary community! A study is being designed that will evaluate the efficacy and safety of giving reduced doses of distemper and parvovirus vaccines to small (tiny) breed dogs. If you are interested in making a donation to help fund the study, please see the attached article and links for details. Remember, until we know whether reduced doses provide protective immunity and decreased risk of adverse reactions, we cannot safely give dogs less than the recommended dose to ensure full protection against these diseases. That said, we are excited to see a study in place, and in the meantime, strongly urge you to discuss individualized vaccine protocols with your veterinarian...this is NOT a one size fits all situation!
