Some fall considerations.... Adding nutrients in the form of compost and organic matter can be done at anytime. But adding lime - IF your soil test indicates it is needed - is best done in the fall - it takes that long to be incorporated into the soil. A soil test taken now will let you know just what your soil really needs - no guessing and no adding potentially harmful products. Yes, you can have too much of a good thing - aluminum is one (added to make those hydrangeas blue - IF needed). Manure is another - do it in the fall as well to give it a chance to break down and be incorporated.
