Some great advice compiled by a local HR professional · Remember that while this is Facebook you must still be professional if using it to find employment. Don’t argue with the people posting jobs, don’t degrade the jobs or the pay. · Do not post for someone else who is looking. It’s nice that you want to help your son, husband, cousin, etc find a job but there’s a level of personal accountability. As a hiring manager I want to know that person wants to get a job and not someone else doing the work for them. · Do not post and ask for a job because of personal reasons. We understand that layoffs happen, we get that there are single parents are out there. Try to post about your skills, ability, experiences, and education. · Keep your correspondence professional. If you submit a resume and you don’t get a call back it’s because you didnt meet the qualifications. It’s not personal. However if you start being rude you’re not only going to burn the bridge with that hiring manager/ recruiter but others will see that as well. · Follow the directions of the job postings. If the posting calls for you to email your resume do so. Most hiring managers/ recruiters don’t have the time to sit on Facebook and answer questions by each person who is asking. · If someone on this page (or anywhere really) sets a time to meet with you or sets you up for an interview show up. These people are either taking a block of their day and put it aside for you or they’re putting their reputation on the line for setting you up for an interview. If something happens and you can’t make it call someone, email someone. Make an effort to let them know you arent coming.
