Some guy I met today was trying to convince me to support a particular president candidate for reasons that border on ethnicity. Told him I can not do that and that I am more interested on the track record of each candidate. He flared up and told me that I do not know anything about Nigerian politics. At that point I was tempted to inform him that I obtained my first degree in Political Science precisely twenty one years ago at the Premier University and that I was among the top graduating students in my set. But I felt that was not necessary so I logged off on him and maintained a stoic silence thereafter. After screaming at the top of his voice for some minutes and spraying everyone there with his saliva, he stormed out in annoyance. Few minutes later he called the person in whose office we had the argument and reported me for ignoring him when he was screaming. According to him, I made him look stupid when he was arguing and I did not talk back. And that If I knew I was not going to continue with the argument I shouldnt have started it. Make una see me see trouble ooo. Na by force to argue? And why did he think I would dignify his emptiness with a response when he had told me pointblank that I do not know anything. What was he really expecting from a man that he had described as ignorant? I have reviewed the scenario in my mind all through today and I have resolved never to argue with self opinionated clowns like him. Now I know there is truly power in SILENCE.
