Some may have heard the name before, some may wonder what it means: Nabati Poetry. It is better known as Bedouin poetry and has been a part of Arabian culture for centuries. In fact, in certain eras, this poetry was the only record of historical events. Historians only know about certain events because the Nabati poems have been passed down from one generation to the next. Beginning of November, a new cultural landmark opened it´s doors: the Dubai International Writer´s Centre, a first of it´s kind here in the Middle East. One of it´s first events was the Nabati Poetry Conference, where Suzanne radford joined a session with professor Clive Holes from Oxford University. His area of expertise is the Study of the Contemporary Arab World. Delve into one of the Arab World´s oldest traditions by listening to his fascinating lecture from 10am.
