Some may suspect me of doing a James Artimus Owen impersonation, - TopicsExpress

Some may suspect me of doing a James Artimus Owen impersonation, but I decided to share this anyway. Because I do think it an entirely apt attitude towards life. Lord knows I was not ready to be married when I was 19, but my soon-to-be-wife seemed like one of those once-in-a-lifetime ladies, and I suspected Id curse myself if I let her walk away, so I went for it. I wasnt ready for the military either, but I felt a burning motivation (in 2002) to put my money where my mouth and heart were, so I went for it. I wasnt ready to be a father, and in fact the prospect terrified me, but my wife and I went for it. Ready to juggle three careers, with writing as the third glamorous career? Not ready. Went for it anyway. In fact, almost all of the worthwhile, remarkable, or momentous things Ive ever done, or achieved, or engaged in, have been of the went for it variety. Not a lot of prep or planning happening. Which I have regretted at times. But, I also like the line from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Nobody ever said life was safe.
