Some members of the public, and candidates, have accused me that all i can bring to the table are warm and fuzzy feelings. Let me assure all of them, the only people I am warm and fuzzy around, is my wife, my son my grand daughter and animals. The last posting, on subsidising developers, and downtown businesses, under the umbrella, of downtown revitilisation, the city of cambridge, has, over the past 40 years, to elaborate, spend about $ 60 million. I was accused of ,only, giving examples of indevidual failures. Well, the city of cambridge in 40 years has produced just one document listing the total monetary investment. Since that report, about 25 years ago, not a single document since has tallied the total monetary investment, nor the monetary benefits which should have accrued from a $ 60 million monetary investment. The question has been posed that I should proof that subsidising developers does not work. Well, to all and any...I did not spend the money. Current Major and council and past councils have! let them proof that it does work. Any newcommers, if you support it, you proof that it works!!!! That goes for people who support the regional airport...$ 20 million in subsidies for operating and $ 67 million in debt to build it. The regional councilors should produce the report showing the spinn-off profits we made to get back the $ 20 million subsidising the airlines and $ 67 million in debt. I dare say that 90% of all voters in cambridge want an accounting, a profit and loss statement and more then likely, by now, ask the question...how long is this nonsense supposed to go on????
