Some more pictures of the Chattenden & Upnor a little known narrow gauge military railway in North Kent, the railway started life as a standard gauge railway, by 1870 Upnor on the River Medway was linked to the barracks at Chattenden and by 1872 the railway had been converted to 1 6 gauge to supply the magazines in the Chattenden enclosure which were built by convict labour between 1876 and 1878, meanwhile the construction of a new 2 6 gauge railway was commenced in 1885 replacing the 1 6 one by the eighth company of the Royal Engineers, the first picture was copied from the net and shows the diesel locomotive at the level crossing at Upnor, also my picture of Upnor 1962-3 and Railway magazine for 1962, approaching the bridge 9copied from the net) the old original bridge at four elms and a 1941 picture followed by one of my own (1962-63) a look along the abandoned track 1962-63, and two pictures of Chevalier that I purchased recently, old pre-war map showing the railway anymore information or pictures would be most welcome.
