Some of my favorite mothers... Lilly, Judy and Jess. People sometimes tell me Im a wonderful story teller, but Im quick to point out that my mother is the best in the family. She called me up on the phone one day laughing and telling me how shed been over to my nephews apartment while he was in college bringing him groceries and had noticed the clothes on the floor, the grey sheets and moldy towels... So, being a good grandmother shed dutifully scooped up all the laundry and hauled it home. After finishing, the next trip she brought it all back and folded his clothes and put them away, hung up the towels and commenced making the bed (a service I would like to point out, I was not privy to). The fitted sheet wouldnt lay flat, so she reached in and discovered a pair of womens panties. With the righteous indignity that only Methodist women can wrought, she hung the panties on his dresser mirror so that hed know that she was aware of what hed been up to. She went home and sat by the phone until he finally called later that evening. Mamaw, why did you hang your underwear on my mirror? She attempted to brave it out. And just what makes you think those are my underwear? Because the girls I date dont wear that Six-Panel-Cotton-Im-expecting-an assassination-attempt-underwear.
