Some of my friends here on fb may remember that I did a Ice Cold Beer Challenge a couple of month ago to help raise funds for a charity in support of RTS - Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome. The culmination of this fundraising effort was a 24-hour long race called 24 The Hard Way which was run yesterday and today by my friend and OCU colleague Erik Heine. Many of you gave money to this cause which raised well over its $8000 goal. The total was then matched by an anonymous donor. This effort will make a REAL difference. Thank you to everyone who gave. Im thrilled to report that Erik finished the race in spite of unseasonably hot temperatures here in OKC. He ran for 24 hours and a total of 85 (yes, with an 8 and a 5) miles in a 24 hour period. I find this accomplishment to be astounding and inspirational. Congratulations to Erik Heine, his wife Patty and their boy, Stephen. What a family!
