Some of you appreciate my team break downs so lets go with the Grizz. Reading required but at least its informative and thought provoking. MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES I remember a few years back Conley warmed the bench and Memphis just wanted to get rid of him. FINALLY he was given a chance and before OJ Mayo left he proves he can run the point and work well in a guard duo. Conley flies under the radar often times because the PG position in the league is so stacked but he is a very smart player, solid ball handler, not a turnover machine and generally doesnt crack under pressure. Since the Grizz chose to trade Rudy Gay to free up cap space to resign Tony Allen last year it was good to see him step up. No denying that man is a defensive monster. He can guard almost any PG, SG and SF in the league. Allen has even improved his offense as well. Him with the ball in his hands used to be cringe worthy but he has gotten a lot better at putting the ball on the ground and driving to the basket. He definitely still needs to focus on D because he is still mediocre offensively but better than the tragedy he used to be on O. Vince Carter was a good sign for Memphis. He will most likely play a similar role to the one he played on Dallas. He can still shoot 3s. He provides great veteran leadership. Hes Vince Carter. Just a bit old at this point :) ZBo is a beast. A 2 inch vertical and the least athletic looking dude you will ever see but he is a bruiser and gets the job done. Being a lefty as a PF is always an advantage. He is able to hook it over a lot of defenders. Solid mid range shot. Monster rebounder. ZBo and DLee are always competing for the most double doubles on the season. It took Marc Gasol far too long to get the respect he deserves but it seems like he is finally being rewarded for his commendable play. MGasol does not play a Euro style like his brother but much more like a true US back to the basket, post up muscle in player. Good mid range shot, solid rebounder. MGasol are arguably the best big man rebounding and passing duo in the league. Courtney Lee, Quincy Pondexter and Beno Udrih are insanely underrated back ups. They can be inserted into the game without Grizz fans getting worried a lead will get blown. Tayshaun is still there. He will play his 20 minutes and maybe be mildly effective but No doubt TPrince is on his way out..... I wont go any deeper into the roster so this post doesnt get any longer. In a nutshell: Memphis is solid and well rounded with very few holes but they struggle to score and have almost zero explosiveness. The West is so stacked I see the Grizzlies going from 5-8. They will make the playoffs but have very little chance of earning home court and that almost guarantees a first round exit. #SplashSista
