Some of you know I have a hobby associated with detecting police - TopicsExpress

Some of you know I have a hobby associated with detecting police speed monitoring systems (e.g. radar, lidar, etc.). Not necessarily for speeding (I have a Prius!), but because I find it fascinating to have an awareness of my driving environment that most drivers normally dont have or care to appreciate. This past weekend, I installed my updated Valentine1 radar unit (just came back from being upgraded to the latest versions of hardware and software) with the V1C bluetooth option. Then, I linked my V1 with an app called YaV1. What a transformation! The combo of YaV1 and the V1 make this an amazing tool for situational awareness. YaV1 provides sophisticated automated lock outs, speed sensitive awareness of alerts (SAAVY emulation), custom sweeps and more. If anyone is on the fence about this combo, don’t be. Both of these components, working together, provide one of the most sensitive and sophisticated systems for the detection and management of police monitoring systems on the road. Here are some pics of my set up. Note the V1 is “dark” while the phone is the active display for all alerts from the V1, including sound. The phone is showing Waze with the overlay feature of YaV1 enabled. Also, the phone is connected to my cars audio via a bluetooth adapter. So all audio, including alerts, come through my cars audio system. #FTW :)
