Some of you know my sister Ash runs the page Scarred for Life. She started the page to share her own story of life after cancer, but shes also discovered that people enjoy hearing what her daughter Morgan is up to. My niece Morgan is...hmm, extraordinary doesnt quite do her justice. People might use the word quirky or creative or unique. She may be all of these things, but one word thats rarely used to describe our Morgs is lovable. This is because she doesnt enjoy being hugged, shes guarded at times, but shes actually one of the most lovable kids I know. She just has different ways to show her love. She may resist a hug, but she will ask a million questions to show shes interested in what you know. She may not want a kiss, but she will present you with an expertly crafted miniature clay figurine, made with love, for you by her. She may not want to sit on your lap and have her hair played with, but she will pull you down the cellar stairs to her art room and show you her newest magnificent costume shes designed and sewn, so you can share in her pride. She may not find enjoyment in all of the things you do, but she never stops trying new things set before her. After all this time wondering and waiting and watching her struggle, reading the findings of her testing makes me burst with pride for this child. To face people who dont get her day after day, year after year, but never losing our sweet Morgadoo has taken a HUGE amount of courage. Morgie I would sit with you in silence for hours, or answer 50,000 questions again and again, or let you make the dinner your way, not force a hug, and just love you for you- forever. I am so incredibly proud of you.
