Some of you may be wondering, why herbal/natural remedies? Why doesnt she just give her poor kid Tylenol and move on? While I do believe there is a time and place for modern medicine, and some fevers are indeed dangerous and need to be treated with fever reducers, I think our culture is a bit to fast to jump to the drug store when sickness hits the house. Besides the fact that a fever is the bodys natural way of fighting an infection, there are specific concerns that have been recently raised about Tylenol: Giving children Tylenol is associated with more than potential liver problems or liver failure. Children who are given acetaminophen frequently are susceptible to an increase in allergic diseases including asthma, eczema and seasonal allergies. Several studies have also shown that kids who are given Tylenol after vaccinations are at an increased risk for developing behavioral and learning disorders. At this time I would recommend an ibuprofen product instead, when the situation warrants medication.
