Some of you may have heard the sad news, that 4th Brigade at Fort Campbell will be deactivated in April. To say my heart hurts because of this news. The men and women of 4th Brigade are honorable soldiers who have given so much of their lives to serve this country, and now because of the cowardly act of the president their unit is gone. Allow me to bring this into focus for you 4th Brigade is the home of the 506th infantry regiment, this is the famous Band of Brothers unit. Some may say this happens, but let me tell you why this is so painful. I served in 3-320th Field Artillery Battalion as a chaplain (3rd Brigade Rakakksans), I was in Iraq 2005-2006 I knew that if anything ever happened to me, that I would soon hear the sound of the door being kicked in and Rakakksans storming the room to come and get me. No one left behind, these are more than just words, it is hard to explain to someone who has not lived what we have, it is a select brotherhood that changes people forever. And the fact that 4th Brigade is going away is like cutting off a piece of our body, for everyone who has ever served this country in any branch of the military we have lost a part of ourselves.
