Some of you may have noticed that I am--to put it lightly--not a fan of religion. In my efforts to illustrate the reasons behind my anti-religous passion, sometimes I post short, punchy memes that oversimplify things and/or remove some of the nuance or context required to fully understand the concepts in question. This is not one of those times. This is not a 140-character distillation of my anti-religious views, it is not a snarky ecard, and it is not a 500-word article that you can just skim over to get the general gist. This is a long and very civil conversation between two men who disagree a LOT about religion and the implications of belief. If you are someone who doesnt understand why I think religion is harmful, or who doesnt understand why I think that it is dangerous to have faith in the absence of evidence, I strongly urge you to give this video a view. If you dont feel like investing the three hours it takes to watch the entire video, I implore you to check out any Sam Harris video which fits your particular attention span. He is imminently thoughtful and well-read, not to mention intellectually honest. Lastly, it should go without saying, but Ill say it anyway: I will tolerate only civil and reasonable comments on this thread. I dont like deleting comments, so please put some thought into any response you may wish to make.
