Some of you may remember a puppy that came through here by the name of Memphis. She was a 6-7 week old Husky/Miniature Schnauzer mix and to this day I still think was the cutest puppy I have ever seen...(and I see a LOT of puppies!!) She was a casualty of some bad people who were picked up and extradited back to Mississippi on very serious felony charges back in August of 2009. One of our officers was involved in that arrest, and the puppy was in the car those people were driving. She belonged to the female suspect and even though she was going to jail, all she was concerned about was Memphis when she was arrested. In fact, the womans father called me over a week later to make sure she was not put to sleep, which of course would never happen with her. I assured him that she would have a great home. She never even saw the shelter and was at my house while I had her. Well, she was the fasted dog I ever had adopted through our Petfinder page! I posted her as adoptable on there one night while I was at the PD, watching over someone we had in our holding cell. That was around 3:00am. By 7:30am I had already received 3 calls about her! An attorney from Russelville contacted me first and said her daughters birthday was that day and the girl saw Memphis online, and that was all she wanted was that puppy. We spoke for awhile on the phone and when I was comfortable that this was a wonderful home for her, I agreed to let them adopt Memphis. She put her appointments on hold for the day and they drove several hours from Russelville, Arkansas, to Gurdon, Arkansas, to adopt her. Now, other than knowing her vetting had been done, I had not heard from them in almost 5 years, and had always wondered what she grew up to look like, In fact, our Lieutenant, Christopher Russell, and I had talked about that many times as he was the one who brought Memphis to me that night. Well, her owner recently contacted me here on Facebook and gave me an update on her, including updated pictures of her. She turned out absolutely beautiful, and is completely spoiled rotten! I always love getting updates on our dogs...and this is a pup that I have thought about so many times. So, here are some pics of Memphis, starting with the picture that got her adopted, to when they got her home, and then some recent pictures of her at home and with her family. Thank you to her owner, Deanna Collins, for the update on her! :-) I hope you all enjoy these as much as I did. :-) Dogs rule!!
