Some of you may wonder why I ask so many questions regarding your opinions and artistic tastes. Some of you may think that a true artist should only ever create the art that they are moved to create. As a moderately successful printmaker who these days finally can earn a living out of something I love I occasionally have slightly scary decisions to make. When I moved to Scotland last year and was suddenly surrounded by a wealth of new beautiful scenery I obviously couldnt ignore it...nor did I want to. But being known for a very specific style of work, dealing with a very specific location it was going to be interesting to see if others were happy to come along on the journey with me. Having now had a year of exhibiting my more rugged Scottish scenes alongside gentle, rolling Dorset I am trying to gather my thoughts on this subject. Will people in Scotland be interested in Durdle Door? Will people in Dorset be interested in Glen Coe? To some of you these decisions may see irrelevant and possibly unworthy? But as well as being something I love doing this is also my livelihood. I wonder whether any of you have had similar decisions to make...or an opinion on this subject...assuming you got to the bottom of this post...lol! Too many words...not enough pictures?
