Some of you might know this man, Jose Mujica , Uruguays President since 2010. Hehas reached somewhat of a rockstar status in his country and world wide for two reasons. He he is literally poor, and donates 90% of his salary to poor people. And he legalized Marijuana in Uruguay. Beside that, he was a former guerella fighter who robbed from the rich and gave everything to Uruguays poor. He was shot SIX times , imprisoned for 14 years and spent most of that in solitary confinement. As president hes entitled to live in the palace, but he still lives on his farm , planting the land and selling its produce. Under his tenure., Uruguay has good seen economic growth and investment. Although hes entitled to run for re election and the polls put him way ahead, he decided to pass the baton to his deputy. He chose not to run. Funny enough, he still drives his old Volskwagen 1978 Beetle and his security detail consists of just two policemen.. That little dirt road and house in the pic, is his home. His wife owns the property. Ive been following him for sometime and I like his style. He has set the bar really high.
