Some people do not understand why rescue groups require adopters - TopicsExpress

Some people do not understand why rescue groups require adopters to have their personal pets spayed and neutered. Here are some of the reasons: 1. Not spaying and neutering your personal pets is the top reason that pets end up in kill shelters. Even pure breed dogs have accidental litters that end up in kill shelters. 2. Puppies and kittens from un-spayed and un-neutered dogs rarely do NOT end up in kill shelters 3. Unspayed and un-neutered pets placed in homes with other unspayed and un- neutered pets have unwanted litters that fill kill shelters daily Since volunteers for rescues work for NO pay, deligently, daily, and spend their money for others pets because they did not spay and neuter and led to homelessness, we feel it a valid concern to STOP the homelessness of these pets. Since this is the best and most significant way to do so, we require this of our adopters. If you would rather not be a responsible pet owner, you can choose to go to the puppy store or a back yard breeder. It shows a lack of concern for pets in general, but it is your right. We, the rescuers, are concerned for pets in general (O: and spay and neuter rescue pets and require this of the homes they go to as well.
