Some people in their joy end up speaking things without giving - TopicsExpress

Some people in their joy end up speaking things without giving careful thought to what they are saying. Am having my car fixed at a backyard workshop in Bulawayo so I decide to take a nap in old accident damaged car while mine is being worked on. These four guys come and sit next to the car am relaxing in and shocking its just after 8:00am and they are already drinking beer. They are talking politics and election results. One of them says in "Beitbridge takatora kudhara, Vic Falls takapedza kare kaGwanda tatora kwasara iyoBhuruweyo iyi ndio inenharo" (We took over Beitbridge long back, Vic Falls we took and now we have taken over Gwanda what is left is this stubborn Bulawayo). One of them objects and says "ahhhh Bhuruweyo iyi zvakafanana nekuti ndeyedu mhani ahhhh...." (This Bulawayo is equally ours....). I felt anger in me and got out of the car and asked them who is the "WE" referred to? If this is the kind of agenda that was there going into elections the motive is extremely wrong. When we stand up to defend our territory and cry for the recognition of our culture (ubuntu bethu) and language we are called tribalists, regionalists and all sorts of names. Call me a stereotype but this deliberate dominance of one tribe or party over all other Zimbabweans MUST stop. Who is the "WE" that is taking over and who is the "THEY" that are being taken over? We are all Zimbabweans and must be treated with equal recognition and respect. One day is one.
