Some people just cant be helped. I had a discussion earlier about people who want to open carry around town. The side opposed to me basically sounded like this 1. Those stupid rednecks with rifles strapped to their backs are giving the rest of us bad names and invalidating our point about the second amendment. 2. Nobody needs a gun that big to protect themselves. 3. There should be no open carry but concealed should be OK so no one gets scared. 4. There have been a lot of shootings and seeing people open carry could create a panic My thoughts: 1. The fact that you opened with insults is what invalidates your point, not a group of people you dont like looking at. 2. There are .50 cal pistols and .22 cal rifles so the length of the weapon means nothing other than accessibility. 3. As a potential victim, I would be more afraid to see a grip when the wind blows somebodys shirt up, and as a potential perpetrator I would be more afraid to see everyone around me carrying. And my personal favorite... 4. Since when did the possibility of an incident that has never yet occurred dictate the revocation of rights guaranteed by the Constitution?
