Some people think intelligence is the key to having a strong faith. While learning is a good thing, it is much more important for the person to have a pure heart. Billy Graham said a Christian should seek peace with (1) God, (2) ourselves in our daily life, and (3) others, and in that order. According to my favorite bible lesson of Revelation 2-3, the smaller and persecuted churches are praised for their faith while the larger and wealthy churches tend to be criticized by Jesus. Nothing is wrong with wealth, but the larger churches of that time allowed wealth and publicity to compromise their supposedly unchanging principles. To have strong faith means to have a pure heart and to be willing to give these things up in order to both please God as well as to stand up for whats right. So feel free to read books and gain knowledge, as this will definitely help. But keep in mind that having a strong faith comes from having a pure heart. Mark 7:20
