Some problems are actually not problems at all, except that we - TopicsExpress

Some problems are actually not problems at all, except that we refuse to recognise that the solutions already exist, and simply implement them. All over the world it is well known that promoting public transport in cities has great benefits, that this needs to be subsidised, and that the simplest way to do it is to steer some money from private transport taxes, fees, etc. to support public transport. BMTC and every other city bus operator in the country can double its fleet, and vastly improve its service if it is given the benefit of this virtuous cycle. Fares would be affordable, people would travel more comfortably and efficiently, traffic would be lower, pollution would be lower, ... the pluses are endless. The only reason it doesnt happen is that our government is unwilling to do it. Good transport ministers, supported by thoughtful CMs in each state, can effect this change in 1 day.
