Some random shots from the Mendota half of the canoe trip 1st is a part of the large lawn at the Sibley House site. There were a couple of large swings on trees in the yard, which seemed quite popular with the kids. 2nd is the tunnel we walked through, under the railroad tracks, to be back to the shore of the Minnesota River and our canoes. This tunnel was covered in corrugated metal, made me think of a quonset hut for whatever reason. Behind that was another tunnel, made of un-reinforced limestone. Then a short hike through a light, sun dappled forest to the shore. We had some heavy rains earlier this summer, which did a number on a bunch of trees nearest the shore.
