Some say that the bad stuff comes in 3’s, and it certainly seemed that way in the early 80’s when we lost three of pro wrestling’s great ones on December 10th calendar days. On December 10, 1982, “Wild” Bill Longson passed away at the age of 76. He was a three-time Pacific Coast Heavyweight Champion in Northern California during the late 30’s and early 40’s. Those title reigns were brief but his reigns as the National Wrestling Association World Heavyweight Champion were another story, as he was a dominant champion and his combined reigns lasted nearly six years. He was perhaps the top-drawing heel during the 40’s which was particularly important due to the relative shortage of high-quality workers due to World War II. He was a heel that people loved to hate and was highly respected by his peers, including personal friend and in-ring rival Lou Thesz. youtu.be/8cmzAhCWkV4
