Some thoughts for the holidays (though not necessarily holiday - TopicsExpress

Some thoughts for the holidays (though not necessarily holiday related): While we may not always enjoy our circumstances I propose we can always find space within ourselves to appreciate. Even the hardest, shittiest of events can create opportunity for growth. In the face of tragedy we can choose to either let it destroy us, or to let it break open our hearts to a stronger connection with ourselves and the world around us. My mother’s grave reads “Si vivimos como respiramos, aspirando y dejando ir, no nos puedemos equivocar.” This roughly translates to “if we live like we breathe, taking in and letting go, we cannot go wrong.” I think about that truth often, especially during the holidays when I miss her and my sister the most. The truth is their deaths could hold me prisoner, keep me from enjoying and appreciating life if I let it. But that’s not what they would want for me, and that’s not what I want for me. And so instead of wishing for things to be different than they are, I do my best to take in reality as it is, to be nurtured by the love they gave me, and to let go of wishing things were any other way. Right here, right now is the only real moment we have my friends. Will we take life in as it comes and let go when it’s time? Or will we trap ourselves in a cycle of pushing and pulling, trying to control the uncontrollable and wishing things were different? Life is way radder when we come to appreciate each other and the moments we share. And when that moment is over we must let it go to make room for the next moment. Appreciate yourselves and each other my friends. And appreciate this moment, this day, this life. tl:dr serenity now Namaste shitheads and happy holidays
