Somedays I get very frustrated with how blind people are. The CRTC - TopicsExpress

Somedays I get very frustrated with how blind people are. The CRTC is acting like it is scoring a huge victory over the cable companies with the unbundling plan. The reality is you can order just one channel in addition to your basic service if you want. However, the price is about 2-5 dollars per channel. That is why they came up with the bundling in the first place. Well that and to get you to buy crap they couldnt sell alone lol. Our media is playing games with us by feeding us light news stories as headlines. We keep falling for it. This seeming victory is a joke. A bundle from SaskTel costs $5.99 and has between 7-10 channels. Thats less than a dollar per channel. The last time I checked it was $2.99 to add a single channel. So unless you can pick any channels 7 for $5.99 this is most likely going to end up a losing deal for us. Because I want to watch The Walking Dead I get the bundle with AMC in it. Because I have Spike with it I started watching the Bellator fights. Thats 2 channels I pay $6 for that unbundled would cost, well $6... plus I get 5 others. Bundling saves us money. Its why so many places create some kind of bundle. Purchase your house, car and life insurance from XYZ and get a 10% saving. Get your home, cell and TV from ABC and save 20%. Get 7 channels of kids shows for $6 instead of 2 for $7 Here below is the comment I posted on Yahoo News. Im betting about 20 people will read both of these. Nothing will come of it but it will make me feel better lol.... ========================== Heres the thing. I can ALREADY rent just one channel if I want. The bundling just saves me money. Call up your provider and ask them how much it is to rent just one channel. They will tell you if you push enough. And youll find that the $6 bundle is a better deal. This is nothing more than a bait and switch tactic to distract people from real problems. It allows the CRTC to claim a victory that is completely meaningless. How about going after companies like Movie Central for showing edited for TV movies that show on basic channels while charging premium prices? How about limiting commercial times? A 90 minute movie showing for 180 minutes when the movie has parts edited out? We pay for 24 hours of TV but lose about 20 minutes per hour to commercials. Whats even funnier is how 30 minute shows from the 70s and 80s have to have 5+ minutes trimmed from them to now play in the same time. How about the promise that something would be done about the extra volume during commercials? How about protecting people from digital locks that will only allow you to keep shows on your PVRs for limited time? Stop with the pretend work to claim meaningless victories. And get some real work done.
