Somedays I just scratch my head and ask WHY?!? Why did it take - TopicsExpress

Somedays I just scratch my head and ask WHY?!? Why did it take three separate visits to Urgent Care over the span of two days to finally get someone to take this Mama seriously? My sweet Clara has been in such pain…swollen glands and tonsils with LARGE white infectious deposits on them. A rash all over her body that would make a grown man cry, eyes almost swollen shut, open sores on her lips and no energy. She is not one to run high fevers…but DAMIT…she IS sick and needed some help. Twice on Sun. she was taken in to see the doctors and both times they said she just had something viral…she was given nothing for the severe rash and nearly swollen eyes. I informed them that Benadryl was not taking down the swelling or rash, her throat was sore, she was in pain and I was worried about her eyes. I also stated that her brother had something similar a few weeks ago. He was diagnosed with having an allergic reaction to something and then getting Impetigo. One doctor wanted to test him for strep but another doctor said it was not strep. Either way, they gave him meds right away and within 10 days he was doing so much better. Clara was way more advanced in her illness and twice she was sent home with no help. Now it is day three, she has not been able to sleep, cant walk because of the severe rash and urinating is painful due to the rash, she is very swollen, her eyes are inflamed and her throat is nearly shut! Took her back to the Urgent Care and the Doctor looked at her, then me and asked why she was not in sooner! I proceeded to tell her she had seen two other doctors in the past 24 hours and they did not seem concerned. Clara could barley speak to the doctor. Her mouth and throat were hurting her so bad. The rash was so angry that the doctor did not even want to touch it, in fear that it would cause her more pain. Clara leaned over to me and in a whisper asked me if this doctor was going to help her and that her vagina hurt really bad.(insert tears from her Mommy here) The doctor was concerned and noticeably disturbed by Claras condition. She told me she had strep and was not happy that she was not treated before now. I understand that Doctors are not perfect. I have many dear friends that are Doctors and I respect their profession and all their hard work and dedication to the medical field…however, sometimes…Mommys know what they are talking about. I expressed to the doctor yesterday that I thought she might have strep…she was not concerned about it and told me to wait it out a few more days…I am at the age where I can wait it out my five year old daughter…is not. Sending special thanks to the Doctor that took care of business and helped my baby girl! (Mommy now climbing off her soap box)
