Someone contacted me recently that has been battling depression off and on for years. Of course, its one of those topics most people dont like to talk about, because certainly something must be wrong with you if youre depressed. You must not be a real Christian, or a believer in Gods Word if youre depressed. Idiots. Thats what I think when I hear people say things like that. Life is hard. Its exhausting...the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows. Just when you think your ship has arrived, the pending tsunami smacks you in the face and ducks you into the raging tide. There is no magic wand to make things better, no pill to make the pain subside. But I will tell you that, without a doubt, HIS GRACE IS GREATER! When I feel like Im sinking in quicksand, my failsafe way to dig myself out is to turn on praise music and start singing along. I start thanking God for the good things in my life. I start thanking him for all that he has done, far beyond my deserving. Certainly there are cases beyond a bad funk, but our God is able! And there are wonderful counselors who can help as well. Dont be afraid to ask for help. Remember, the Bible say that you have not because you ask not. If you have a personal need for prayer, post it below. It can be for a friend or family member, even unspoken. There is no shame in depression...no matter what society tells you. But you were called to live a life as more than a conqueror. Dont sell yourself short. Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning.
