Someone is on my mind tonight. I suspect she is with me today. We took naps together on Saturdays in a little twin bed in the back bedroom of her house. Her bathroom was the best thing I ever saw, it was pale yellow and it was always clean. It always smelled clean, not overwhelmed with bleach, but just clean, a smell I have never mastered on my own. She made me pita pockets with melted cheese ends she bought at the local delis in the neighborhood for pennies on the pound, but they were the best treats ever, and we baked . Once a crumb cake, which inverted during baking and when cut open, the crumbs were in the inside ! She had a red chair in her kitchen which doubled as a step ladder, that was the seat of honor! She always had cocoa in her kitchen, and when we had lunch we had it on the fine china. And we always had Claussen pickles! The same shows were on every Saturday.... Gun smoke, The Three Stooges... Back then , I thought these shows were boring, and wondered why my Dad and Uncle were laughing hysterically at these boring shows... Lol... What I wouldnt give to see them now though. She listened to Bernard Melzer on the radio as well, walked or took the bus to wherever she need to go, as she never learned to drive. She is my grandmother. And I miss her very much.
