Someone please teach them how to drape a Sari !! In the recently released film Two hundred foot journey, during the climax scene, Om puris daughter in law is seen wearing a sari at a private party at Madame Mallorys restaurant, and itll make your eyes bleed to see the way she had draped it! Sari is one of the most beautiful worn attire that accentuates an Indian womans look much more than western outfits, so in case you are showcasing it in front of a larger diaspora audience, why do you have to drape it so hastily and clumsily? and why on earth it has to be always those chamkila - chamkadhar saris? i have no idea! Another example is the extremely talented Deepa Mehta, at the Oscars red carpet and at the BAFTA where she was their with her film WATER, she was seen wearing a hideous attire which...err..looked like a sari!! yes, of course, it was a sari, as she had said it was my grandmothers sari, but m sure her granmother must have cried her heart out from abode by the way she was wearing it!! And at BAFTA!! Dear lord, she almost looked like a witch (or rather, a khenti buri!) Its better to either wear a western attire that you can carry off well or just keep it to a simple elegant salwar suit (a la Mira Nair). Its good to see Nandita Das, at least she keeps it minimal and simple, without going over board with any accesories or makeup, though i still didnt like the yellow (again chamkila!) sari she was wearing at Cannes 2013
