Someone posted that I opened a can of worms with my comment about hating the fact that you can almost never get a person when you call a company for help. I think its good that can got opened. I think the people who post here and I should start a new government with a code of ethics that puts compassion right at the top of the list. Our first law would be that companies have to deal with their customers using real people in real time. Imagine the difference: BEFORE: Hello, this is X Company. Your call is very important to us. If this is a life- threatening emergency, hang up and call 911. Snort! Just kidding! We think thats so funny, that a person with a life- threatening emergency has to hang up and make another call. Right? So funny! But seriously, if you are calling us for help, go and make yourself a sandwich and change into your pajamas; this is going to take a while. Before we begin, wed like to let you know there is a survey you can take after your experience with us. Would you like to take it? If so, press one. If not, press two and we will punish you in one way or another, like, oh, I dont know, maybe losing your call right when you get near the end, thats always a good one. Anyway, after you tell us if youll participate in a survey, we are going to give you a series of prompts that will take up a whole lot of your time, which we dont mind wasting at all, as our time is much more important than yours. In fact, your call is only important to us because you pay us our salaries. Otherwise, we could not care less about you. As we will amply demonstrate. So! Lets go, shall we?
