Someone put up a post asking who everyone favorite poet was. I like a lot of poets so i guess i got kinda carried away. Btw. whats yours...feel free to give me the who and why. I promise ill read it all. Jim Simmerman,(RIP) -- the great American poet and an amazing professor, challenged me more than anyone ive ever met learned from in the field of poetry...When he said the problem with most Amateurish poets and readings and in classes is that they dont actually READ POETRY. And thats kind of like trying to become a professional musician without ever listening to music. So take that in the spirit he meant it. He was touch but constructive and thats what anyone who wants to express themselves in any medium needs. (besides encouragement at the apprentice level). So yeah, who do you love?
