Someone said that mourning is better than joy. I think poetry is - TopicsExpress

Someone said that mourning is better than joy. I think poetry is like that. Joy is pleasant, but mourning is where you learn the value of a thing. Explanations grant you knowledge. Poetry grants understanding. This ancient poem is recited here beautifully and it speaks in theological language about where blessing is found. Blessing can be translated as happiness, and the poem seems an unlikely answer to the search for happiness: Outside power. But hidden in the images is more than an unlikely answer. There is an unlikely goal. Contentment is not the goal. The goal is goodness. We want to be great. Happiness is in being good.
