Someone texted me asking how my feet are, how podial neuropathy feels. Imagine your feet being wrapped in towels with really, really hot water. The heat is constant and doesnt go away. Then imagine walking on a really rocky surface, the kind with jagged edges that seem to punch thru the meat of your foot. The pain races across your arch, then jams into your toes and the front part off your foot pad, like they were being cracked by a rubber mallet. Sometimes the front of the foot curls uncontrollably because of cramps and the only way to get rid of em is to walk which of course hurts anew. Thats how neuropathy feels. Painkillers help a bit. Massage may or may not help. Sometimes it hurts so bad I might accidentally kick the masseuse. On regular days, the pain is there but I push it back from my mind, with focus winning over feeling. I draw. I read. I fiddle around with y fingers. I try to be busy. Today is a bad day though. I cant seem to focus the pain away so Im trying to cope with painkillers and a large dose of humor. So far, so good. I want takoyaki.
