Something I wrote on BA.....in March 2013: Bushra Ansari: (No BIJLI...No PTV) ----------------------------------------- Over the decades, newspapers, magazines, TV chat shows, morning shows, evening shows, every kind of shows, have displayed a proliferation of BAs images and work. Having written blogs on some biggies of pak showbiz earlier, when I decided the task of chronicling something about BA, who to me, is the pristine practitioner of our Showbiz limited to the mini tube, I dare say I had the temerity to do this because of an innate feeling that the subject by umpteenth counts, deserves to be given a smidgen of the accolades, kudos and praise galore she so well deserves. Of late, gratifyingly, new approaches and a continuous expansion of her talents with diversifying innovative mannerism, has explored the active role of this artiste in generating the meaning, pleasure and various identities for a diversity of audiences on stage and TV. From ..... onwards, BA has been busier then in any phase of her life and career, being also a most loving daughter, a caring sister, an ideal mother and a wife of substance to her talented husband. BAs childhood, under the aegis of a man who stood for strong principles and dared to differentiate with the then world of culture and literature, was an amazing one altogether. She followed notes, took heed and forged ahead from the time she first appeared as a child singer in Khalil Ahmeds program of music for children from PTV Lahore in late sixties. She never looked back, kept her head high, eyes on the ground without an iota of anything which uncomforted her colleagues and the family and worked her way through her God gifted talents, well capitalising on them with an explore of better yet better. BA has never been under stress. Perhaps because she started believing that the onus of her success does not rest entirely on her shoulders now. At her age over 50, she feels less burdened and far more inclined to continue with the great talent, extempore talent, she has been blessed by Almighty. BA is always chirpy, far from the madding crowd of Showbiz politics, strictly professional without any political affiliation though having anchored umpteenth political stage shows so gracefully and with command. BAs performances we all have enjoyed and amassed in our sweetest thoughts, carry a medicine of sooth, calm and pristine for the viewers...a very very large number of viewers in the country, in our neighbourhood India and the Americas, The Gulf and the Europe or wherever the Urdu language is understood and spoken. BA commands respects for her unmatched and unparalleled outstanding and glorious acts in TV plays, on stage and even in adverts. BA is God gifted with the talent of writing scripts so well endowed by a logic and meaning towards the perils and goodness and the mood of our society close to reality. As a person, she could be someone like you may have known for ages. Composed, thorough and highly social as well as reserved and strict to her work. Ive known BA for some decades now though I never worked with her till recently. Some days spent with the team which included her as an essential part, I saw and closely observed BA and her talented mannerism of deeply involving herself in the character given and I could easily come to the conclusion that its no wonder why Bushra Ansari is so blessed with talent galore. I wish Bushra great going forward. We expect more and more from her and better better then we have so far seen and I have cogent reasons to believe that Bushra Ansari, is like a brook of Lord Alfred Tennyson, shell keep on sliding and brimming and glowing and flowing till she can, with her vibrant and glorious performances. At this point, why it may not matter, but I do register my protest to the authorities concerned that a talent like that of Bushra Ansari, has been limited to the countrys civil award Pride of Performance so far.....and I think not only me but almost half the Nation would support my thoughts that its high time that Bushra Ansari deserves a Sitara-e-Imtiaz if not Hilal. Long live Bushra Ansari and thank you Bushra for all the entertainment and meaningful plays galore. Raju Jamil
