Something else that occurs to me after watching Interstellar. And, - TopicsExpress

Something else that occurs to me after watching Interstellar. And, of course, SPOILER ALERT!!! Two big blockbusters in the past couple years have ventured into conspiracy territory. One instance, marginally, with the second Star Trek where they feature a planet at the beginning of the movie called Nibiru (if you arent familiar with that name Google it and be amazed) and second, in Interstellar, with the Moon Hoax landing, which actually features quite a bit more significantly (and if you arent familiar with that, youve been living under a rock :)). I find that interestingly funny :) But its worth noting just how the Moon landing hoax is used in Interstellar. And how I feel that its quite a significant key to truly understanding what Interstellar is really trying to say to us. Its implied (I think) in the movie that public education is now privately run, since the teachers that Cooper are talking to at the Parent/ Teacher meeting explain to him that they no longer use Federally issued textbooks to teach science. And one of the issues they use to explain that is how we in the past were lied to about the Moon Landings and that they were, in fact, as the new textbooks teach, an intentional hoax that the US government employed to help bankrupt the USSR during the Cold War. With the thrust of all this being that there is a propaganda program in effect that celebrates the idea that we need to concentrate more on earthly bound matters here at home (re: we need more farmers) and abandon all those notions of space exploration and furthering our more lofty goals into higher science. So really, while the movie is largely about mans first foray into interstellar space, ironically, the themes of the movie are telling us to pay way more attention to whats going on, on Earth. And I like that :)
