Something is surely happening in Pakistan. Even the most stubborn - TopicsExpress

Something is surely happening in Pakistan. Even the most stubborn of cynics has started to stroke his chin and ask himself if the nation of Rip Van Winkles is finally waking up. Nawaz Sharif heckled repeatedly during a speech, Nawaz Sharif chased off by a mob of angry flood affectees, Jamshed Dasti doing a 007esque escape on a motorbike from a mob that would probably have killed him, Rehman Malik accosted and summarily disembarked by angry passengers for delaying a flight for two hours..the list goes on. And all this in the space of a week. Vigilante justice is wrong, pursuing legal and constitutional means is always the best way-but where the law is not allowed to exist, where constitutions are suspended, where court orders are disregarded, where witnesses fail to show up, where there is both rural and urban feudalism the only recourse is to refuse and resist. Pakistan seems to have found the first of the daughters of hope that St Augustine wrote about, time will tell if they can see this through with the second: Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are Anger and Courage; Anger at the way things are, and Courage to see that they do not remain the way they are. And in the words of Faiz Ahmed Faiz: https://youtube/watch?v=dxtgsq5oVy4
