Something quite heartening from our blood bike group! Taken from the newsletter. Wonderful effort A very long run: At 09:15 on Tuesday 9th December 2014, I received a call from the Analytics Manager at the Path Lab at Royal Preston Hospital asking if we could help with some very urgent samples, which needed to go to a Path Lab in Cardiff. I was unavailable, so I contacted the Vice Chair, Graham Jones to see if he could sort it. If we couldnt do it they would have to use a taxi, which would cost a fortune and be far slower than a bike and time was the key. Graham Jones collected the item and one of our Central Area Managers, Paul Pain, at the request of Graham, contacted Midland Freewheelers and Blood Bikes Wales to see if he could arrange a relay. Following the samples being ready at approximately 10:00 they were collected at 10:18 and delivered to the Path Lab in Llandough, South Wales at 13:56. 3 hours 38 minutes. Many thanks to all at Midlands Freewheelers and Blood Bikes Wales for a fantastic job, which just goes to show at least one of the benefits of being a member of NABB.
