Something to not only think about, but is also very important to understand: The God of the Old Testament seems to be different from the non condemning, loving Jesus, God of the New Testament. Take it a step further and the God of the Book of Acts (The Holy Spirit) is seemingly more mellow than Jesus (descended from heaven like a dove upon Jesus). Jesus did run the money changers out of the temple with a whip.I cant picture the Holy Spirit doing this. But then, we see Jesus Christ returning to earth with His army and destroying nations as the God of the Old Testament did. How can this be? Simply put, The LORD is showing us different facets of Himself. He doesnt change. He is a God who judges sinners with death as a penalty. He is as Jesus loving and caring enough to die for our salvation and He is patient, loving and caring for us as the Comforter and Teacher and Indwelling Holy Spirit. When Jesus returns, He is representing God in His fullness and will rule with Judgment, Mercy, Love, and Compassion Those who are unrepentant will only see the Judgments of Jesus. Those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior have a different future than those who reject Him. An example of this is John 3:36 He that believes on the Son has everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the WRATH OF GOD abides on him. The God of the Old Testament has not gone anywhere. Without Jesus Christ as Savior, everyone has an angry God to deal with at death. God has not mellowed out. Something to really think about and understand!
