Something too few understand: It is not genius that begets insanity, it is ART that begets insanity. Allow me to explain by way of example.... Truman Capote, when writing in Cold Blood, nearly lost his mind, and many say he never fully recovered from the experience. Make very clear: it was the EXPERIENCE of writing In Cold Blood, that wounded Capote. The propensity to write, to create art, in itself, does not lead to pain, emotional insatiability and insanity. It is the writing, the delving into the depths of the mind....it is the painting, and the crawling into the inner recesses of the mind that begets pain and madness. Creative genius in itself does not beget madness. Rather, the CREATION of art---a great work of fiction, writing a philosophical treatise, the creation of a poem....these things are hard on a person. If a person has high sensitivity, and extremely active mind, then that experience can kill them.
