Something unexpectedly splendid happened to me today. I have a new position at Jimmy Johns where I go out into the community and I get to pass out FREE sub samples. This morning at around 11:15 I walked into the Destin History and Fishing Museum not thinking anything special was going to happen. I spoke with some of the workers and was about to leave when an older gentleman walked and I proceeded to offer him a sample. His face lit up and he was so thankful. He started to pull something out of his pocket and he handed it to me. It was a Nature Valley granola bar with a sticker on it that says Jesus Loves You. I thought awww how cute. He then asked me if knew Jesus and I started to tell him a little bit about my testimony. He stopped me mid sentence and said I feel such a strong pull from The Lord to ask you if I can video you and ask you a few questions. I said sure no problem and so he pulled out his phone and started to video me, he asked me about my relationship with God and how I came to know Christ. He also asked me how I felt about how the worlds standards for relationship differ from Gods standards for relationships. I answered with everyone is so obsessed with the glitz and glam of Hollywood relationships and we long to have those glamorous lives, but I have recently come to learn that no man, no woman, no human being on this planet, could ever satisfy my need to be loved like God can. In Him I am made whole. All the while the man is smiling from ear to ear. He then puts his phone away and says he wants to go get a devotional book that he wrote. He signs it and then asks me to put my hand on the book and starts to pray over the book. He then starts to pray over me and that my witness and my testimony would reach this city and this world. Im balling my eyes out by now at how beautiful this moment is. He then asks me if I wouldnt mind praying over him. I put my hand on his shoulder and spoke a prayer over him, the entire museum, the city of Destin, and our lost and broken world. Before I left he said a statement so true I cant get it out of my head, the world rejoices when we have peace, but we rejoice when we are going through trouble, because through trouble, comes change. I sat in my car for about 10 minutes after that and just cried. Today marks four months since I graduated from #emergeleadershipacademy and this was the first opportunity that Ive had to put into action the things that the program taught me. If it hadnt been for all those early morning food pantries and praying over the families that needed food, I dont know if I wouldve had the courage to say the things I said and pray over a complete stranger. Ive struggled for the past four months to see the real change that emerge gave me, until today. Today, I thank God for Destiny Worship Center. I thank God for Pastor Steve and his willingness to hear the word of God and respond to the call that is placed on the next generation leader. Im so thankful for the God ordained leaders that are running the entire program. Im so thankful for the opportunity that I have to go out into my community and spread love in such a small but powerful way. Im thankful for Brandy Gill Allen, 1) for being so amazing, and 2) allowing me the opportunity to work along side you and just absorb every ounce of wedding planning knowledge I can get! I absolutely love where God has placed me. I am looking forward to many more opportunities to experience this life and get everything out of it that God wants me to have.
