Something weird here, under Section 58 (e) of Ordinan Majlis Islam Sarawak, its clearly stated : (d) tiada orang boleh mengajar atau mengembangkan atau memperjelaskan kepada orang ramai apa-apa doktrin tentang agama Islam di dalam Negeri tanpa kelulusan bertulis MajIis; This mean there shall be no propagation of Islam or activities in Sarawak without approval from State Government. But here we have the planned but now aborted Conversion ceremony in Kapit only after public outcry. This is not the first case, in fact many Dayaks has been converted to Islam by NGOs mostly from Peninsular Malaysia. Do they get the approval from MAIS/JAIS? If not how it happen? If yes, thats mean MAIS/JAIS were aware of these activities in Sarawak? In short, collaborating with these NGOs? Dont tell me in their written application to MAIS/JAIS, any NGOs need not to specifically explain their activities? Is there is any mechanisme for MAIS/JAIS to monitor these activities? With all due respect to my Muslims friends, this is not agaisnt Islam but if a person wish to embrace Islam, he/she should just go to the nearest MAIS/JAIS What happen now is these conversion activities by Muslim NGOs has promise moneytary rewards/donation to those who wish to convert, for example, a case of 1 Iban longhouse in Kapit a few months back Im wondering is there any action going to be taken agaisnt those NGOs? Now is time for our Dayak leaders to stand up for the sake of our people across both political divide!
