Sometime ago I read a research and I also shared on NAYS page and that was on saving fuel at signals. According to that research if you have to stop at a signal then it is better to switch off your vehicle engine to save fuel. They also busted the myth that engine consume more fuel when we start/re-start it. Now when I travel in Japan, I observed the practical application of that research as when bus stop at signal, the driver switch off its engine and before signal goes green again, they switch it on and continue the journey and I am sure they save fuel this way. In Pakistan, due to traffic jam and signals we have to stop for longer duration and I have rarely seen that somebody switch off engine of vehicle. So now you can practice this in Pakistan as well and can save your expansive fuel :-)
