Sometimes God doesn’t answer prayers in the way we want. Sometimes horrible things happen. Natural disasters. Genocide. Slavery. Famine. Cancer. Children die. The world is full of heartache. It is. You don’t have to look long or hard if you choose to open your eyes. We can choose to blame God. We can choose to let the pain negate his power or his love, because if he were good and if he were strong, then none of this would be happening. We could even choose to reject his existence. Life doesn’t work life that. God can still be good and still be strong and still be loving. Our world is sick and broken and muddied since the fall of mankind. Free will works that way, but in the same way our eyes can be opened to evil, they can also be opened to beauty. Glimpses of heaven and perfection and unconditional love surround all of us, everywhere we turn. We can choose to reject or resent God for the times it feels he doesn’t listen or doesn’t answer or even the times that it feels he doesn’t have any regard for our lives. I know those times, but I can tell you that, because of him, I can also see the beauty, see the joy, see the hope, see heaven. I see what was intended, and that only builds my hope for so much more after this life. When the healing doesn’t come, hold on to hope. This world is the beginning. This world is a shadow compared to what is to come. - a beautiful messy life!
